Congratulations to Ashley Nethercliffe and Nicole Rogers who this weekend made their debuts for the England Under 18 team in the Test Match v Wales held at Barry Athletic Bowls Club. On Saturday morning the disciplines were shared 2-2 with Nicole playing two in a winning girl's triple. The afternoon saw both Nicole and Ashley playing and although Nicole, leading in a mixed pair, went down to a narrow defeat it was Ashley's mixed triple, in which he played two, that snatching a last end 3 and a draw, enabled England after Day 1 to lead narrowly by 4.5 disciplines to 3.5

Sunday morning saw the teams playing singles and fours and on this occasion it was Nicole's turn to rest. England needed to share the disciplines to win the Test and, with both teams managing a singles win, all depended on the Fours games The girls went down to a last end defeat but the boy's fours, featuring Ashley playing at 2, won, so enabling England to win the match.

The standard of bowling throughout the weekend was extremely high and our Oakley duo acquitted themselves very well and did the club proud. Well done to both of them.
