Tonight at Fleet United the Oakley Triple of Laura Butler, Jo Holland and Val Ryan took on the Fleet Social rink, skipped by Margaret Hankin, in an attempt to reach, for the first time, the County Last Eights at Southampton. After 5 ends things looked good with Oakley 9-3 up but by 10 ends the scores were level. By 15 ends, Oakley had a 17-15 lead but 2 singles on the next two ends saw Fleet Social go into the last end 1 up. Oakley held shot until Margaret Hankin's last bowl changed the situation and Val with her last bowl was unable to recover the situation. After a close struggle, Oakley bowed out losing 17-21.
