Oakley Men's hopes of repeating their long 2019 run in the National Double Rink came to a early end, this morning at Oakley. Against Alton Social, the home team had the better of the early exchanges with Nick Hardy's rink, leading 9-1 after 6 ends and Oakley holding an overall advantage of 4 shots. That lead was maintained to half way but a disastrous 10th end saw Oakley drop 5 shots and Social take a lead which by the 13th end they had increased to 5 shots. A score of 5 on Jason Rogers' rink gave Oakley hope as for a moment the overall scores were level but it was Social that successfully saw out the last ends of this shortened 15 end format to win by 29 shots to 26. Oakley scores - Leigh Allen, Sean Lassman, Ashley Nethercliffe and Nick Hardy lost 11-14; Steve Devonish, Spencer Kerley, Fred Norris and Jason Rogers drew 15-15.
