This morning 28 Oakley bowlers returned from, yet another, very enjoyable 4 night break at the Dorset Bowls Resort., near Wareham.
Joined by players from Bromley and Farnborough/Yateley, it was not, from a bowling perspective, one of our more successful mini tours but Wendy Aherne, Linda Smith,. Di Yarrall and Sue Dixon did manage to pick up prizes as the highest rink in the Ladies vs Gents match.
The lack of bowling success did not stop us enjoying ourselves. We picked up prizes in the putting and wedge bowling competitions. with the social activities enabling all three clubs to make donations to charity, in our case St Michael's Hospice.
Members stayed in either the hotel rooms or the luxurious lodges and service throughout the stay was excellent. As usual the food was superb - no one could ever be hungry at the Dorset - and already we have booked for a return in 2027..
