NARROW DEFEAT IN MORETON CUP

There were more changes to the Oakley team playing in this year's Moreton Cup as this morning the Club took on Atherley BC in their third game in the competition. Oakley began well leading 9-4 after 5 ends but at 10 ends Atherley led by one shot and by 15 ends the deficit had increased to twelve shots. With both Oakley rinks now trailing, it looked as if we would get no points from the match but a late rally from the rink skipped by Bob Goodyear saw them pick up 2 points for a rink win meaning that Atherley won but only by 3 points to 2. With one match left to play in the round robin league Atherley are now top with 13 points to Oakley's 12 . Oakley scores: Steve Devonish, Sean Lassman, Martin Vickers and Graham Tompkins lost 14-25; Leigh Allen, John Yarrall, Ric Newson and Bob Goodyear won 20-18.
