Some say "many hands make light work" but President John probably did not feel that, this morning, when he found he was the only person present who was "qualified" to do the hollow tining. (What a mess we would have been in had he tested positive on his return from holiday!)Tining is a heavy task particularly when only one individual is doing it but John stuck manfully (sorry could not think of a neutral gender word) to the task and by lunch time the green had been fully tined and brushed and all tines removed to the compost by other members of the team. Whilst this heavy work was being undertaken the ditch mats, having been removed on Monday, were power washed, laid out to dry and then stored. We have also stored away for the winter the outside furniture and the benches were put under cover. Some gardening was also carried out. There is, over the next few days, more work to be done but we have broken the back of it and the Club's thanks go to the ten members present today. As can be seen they were allowed a short tea/coffee break and thanks go to Diane Yarrall who supplied the hot sausage rolls.
