GOOD TWO DAYS FOR OAKLEY LADIES

Yesterday Oakley Ladies travelled to Howard Park for the NHWBA Gazette Cup (Three triples) and in a tense and tight contest emerged winners by 45 shots to 43. Tonight's match in the Bowls Hampshire Thornbery Trophy (the County two rink Club championship) was expected to be even more difficult away against Basingstoke Town whoe players have enjoyed considerable success this season. However, Oakley stormed out of the blocks picking up a five and a four on the first ends and from thereon were always in the driving seat running out winners by 44 shots to 21. The evening became even better with the news that, at home, Martin Vickers has reached the semi final of the Basingstoke and District Singles winning a high quality match against Town's Zak Miller
