With the rain hammering down before breakfast, it seemed unliikely that today's Drawn Fours would happen. Oakley members are, however, hardy souls and, despite the rain, the tourrnament took place. Vice President Diane, running the competition in the absence of the Competition Secretary, had some difficult decisions to make. Several members, most with understandable reasons, dropped out at a very late stage and, as a result, it was, in some cases, necessary to play triples against fours. The four teams emerging from the league sections were skipped by Ric Newson, Val Ryan, Janie Vickers and Ted Trantum and the latter two made it to the Final. A fours event with two triples contesting the Final is somewhat unusual ,but congratulations go to RIchard Baxter, Tony Waspe and Janie who triumphed over Carol Phillips, Hugh Aherne and Ted. However the biggest congratulations must go to those who braved the weather and to Diane for coping with the sudden changing availability of players.
