This afternoon on a cold but dry afternoon Club President Mary Varndell was delighted to welcome teams from Bowls Hampshire and Bowls England to our green. The Hampshire Presidents Ken Eichen and Cynthia Abraham had all their Presidential team present as well as many other Officers and Executive Members whilst Bowls England President Michael Jennings was supported by his full England Presidential team and players from 14 counties. Following a buffet prepared by members the players donned their warm clothing and did battle and after an enjoyable afternoon and a closely fought contest it was Bowls Hampshire that emerged victorious by the narrow margin of 13 shots. At the post match meal both Presidents warmly thanked the club members for all the work that had gone into making the day such a success and for the contributions made to their respective charities. For the club it was an honour to be asked to stage this fixture and we hope all our visitors enjoyed the day and had a safe journey home.
