BOWLS AT ITS BEST
Brilliant sunshine, great company and good bowling. all were present as we staged our Acorn singles competition, open to all members who joined the Club from 2021 and have never won a singles title. Twenty four players took part, some of whom joined only in the last few weeks, and were divided into groups of six, which meant that, playing on a round robin basis, everyone was guaranteed 5 matches and 30 ends of bowls The four group winners then met in the semi finals with Colin Godfrey beating Richard Waters and Ken Phillips winning a last end decider against Harry Baker The Final saw Colin take the first three ends but Ken fought back to emerge the deserved winner. Congratulations go to all the players for giving us excellent entertainment and particular thanks go to those "more experienced" members who gave up their time to mark the matches and to encourage our newer members. A vey successful day came to an end with the good news from Littleton that our President Ric had, this afternoon, won the Whitchurch and District Over 60s singles title beating John Arbon of Kingsclere in the Final.
