THORNBERY TROPHY RESULT

In July 2019, Oakley's Ladies travelled to Cove looking to reach the Area Final of the Thornbery Trophy (the County Club Championship played over two Rinks) and the report, at the time, described Oakley as well beaten. Last night Oakley travelled, yet again, to play their nemesis and yet again came off second best. The start was promising with Cove holding just a 7-6 lead after 5 ends but the match was effectively decided in the next 5 ends as Oakley scored just 1 shot to Cove's 17. Over the next 5 ends both teams scored 8 shots but for Oakley the damage had been done earlier and eventually the match was conceded with Cove running out 37-20 winners.
