Basingstoke Town's green was again the venue for a semi final involving Oakley, as, tonight, long distance commuter Terry Heath and Ashley Nethercliffe took on the Alton Social duo of Marc Gorman and Dave Attwell in the Basingstoke and District Pairs. On a particularly difficult rink, with which both teams were unhappy, it was Oakley that made the better start leading 7-0 after only four ends and a fifth end 3 to Social did little to stem the tide as Oakley, by the ninth end led 17-4. Alton Social then mounted a rally and by the fourteenth end had reduced the score to 19-12. With Oakley holding a good 4 on the next end the match looked all but over when a somewhat fortuitous last bowl turned the end in Social's favour the difference was down to 6 with five ends still to play. Successive scores of 4 to Oakley put Oakley back in the driving seat and Social conceded after 19 ends with the score at 28-13. Oakley's congratulations go to both players and we wish them luck in the weekend's final (date and time yet to be announced).
