Tonight Oakley's Men took on Howard Park looking for a place in the quarter final of the County Club Championship. Oakley began as favourites but on a wet evening it was the less experienced Howard Park team that made the better start. After 5 ends only the Oakley rink skipped by Jason Rogers was in front and Oakley trailed 12-16. The sixth end saw Oakley score on all four rinks and move into a 6 shot lead which, by 10 ends had increased to 22 shots. Howard Park hung in and, with Alan Tait's rink taking the lead over Nick Hardy, Oakley's advantage was reduced to 17 shots. That for the Park was as good as it was to be as Oakley, with the rain having stopped, powered away to a 91-56 victory. Oakley will now play Cove at Basingstoke Town on Monday evening. Oakley Scores: Leigh Allen, Steve Devonish, Sean Lassman and Nick Hardy won 21-17; Jamie Fewtrell, Ted Brown, Ric Newson and Ashley Nethercliffe won 32-12; Malcolm Grime, Martin Smith, Bob Goodyear and Jason Rogers won 20-14; Martin Vickers, Jim Dixon, Spencer Kerley and Graham Tompkins won 18-13.
