Alice Lovett, this afternoon, followed up her nail biting win in the first round of the National Junior Singles at Leamington by beating Jodie Gosling of the Colchester West End Club in Essex 21-16 to reach the quarter final of the event. It was good news for all Oakley members, and the news came through just before those on the Club Tour were about to sit down for Dinner so it was an excellent reason to top up glasses. Tomorrow in the quarter final Alice will play Emma Langridge of Poole Park Dorset and everyone wishes Alice good luck. The news of Alice's win was not, however, the only reason for celebration as later in the evening we heard that by beating Basingstoke Town, the Oakley men had won the Basingstoke and District Men's League with two games still to be played. Unbeaten to date, it has been quite a season for our "A" team and with 18 players having been involved, at different time, it shows there is encouraging strength in depth within the club.. Well done everyone
