Most of the Basingstoke and District Finals were held over the weekend. In the Singles, Ric Newson bounced back from his heavy defeat at Leamington to record, in an all Oakley Final, a good 21-11 win over clubmate and reigning champion Bob Goodyear. Also successful were Barry Lee and Jim Dixon who lifted the Over 60s Pairs title beating Old Basing 31-18. Disappointingly Terry Varndell was unable to make it a treble by lifting the Novice Singles title, losing in the final for the second successive year, this time to Malcolm Christian of Old Basing 18-21. The treble, will, however, be achieved on Tuesday evening when the District Triples Final is contested at 5 pm at Basingstoke Town by the Oakley Triples of Sean Lassman, Ashley Nethercliffe and Bob Goodyear and Terry Heath, Ric Newson and Ted Brown. The Club's congratulations go to all the players who have done the club proud.
