Basingstoke Town, as a neutral green, has not proved lucky, this week, for Oakley. Losing in the County Club Championshiop on Monday and then the District Triples on Tuesday it was hoped tonight would be third time lucky as Malcolm Grime, Sean Lassman and Bob Goodyear took on Alton in the BDBA Two Wood Triples semi-final. Alton began well scoring 5 shots on the first two ends and Oakley struggled to get into the game with their opponents drawing more bowls into the head. By halfway Alton led 11-2 and a 4 on the eleventh end put them firmly in the driving seat. There was a glimmer of hope on the 14th end when Oakley picked up a 3 but Alton were always in command of the game and eventually ran out deserved 21-11 winners. Bob Goodyear returns to the Town tomorrow for his fourth successive game there and we hope he can break the spell by winning his District Singles semi-final.
