Having won and lost one game in the round robin section of the Fuller/Ambler Trophy at Loddon Vale, Oakley, on Saturday evening, took on leaders Old Basing Buffalo in a game where a win was imperative if the club is to qualify for the semi final of the event. The team of Steve Devonish, Malcolm Grime, Sean Lassman and Bob Goodyear had a sensational start, picking up a 7 on the first end, but Basing dug in and after 17 ends they had reduced the lead to just 5 shots. Amazingly Oakley then scored another 7 and ran out 30 -14 winners. The victory means that a win or draw in the final league game against new leaders Basingstoke Town will guarantee Oakley a place in the semi final.
