OAKLEY REACH SEMI FINAL IN AMBLER FULLER

This evening at Loddon Vale, in the Ambler Fuller competition for outdoor clubs, Oakley took on league leaders Basingstoke Town Jesters with a draw for both teams being sufficient to see them both into the semi finals. The Town made the better start leading 3-0 after 3 ends but a purple patch over the next 7 ends saw Oakley surge into a 20 shots to 3 lead and, although the Town kept plugging away ,the result was, from there on, never in doubt. The Oakley rink of Steve Devonish, Malcolm Grime, Sean Lassman and Alice Lovett won by 38 shots to 12 with the heavy defeat meaning the Town missed qualifying for the semi-final as Old Basing won their final game and sneaked the second place with a shot difference one better than that of the Town.
