Over the weekend, five Oakley players were representing Hampshire in junior team competitions at Leamington. In the women's Amy Rose Trophy, where Hampshire has never won a match, Nicole Rogers, Lorna Devonish, Heather Statham and Alice Lovett played as a rink and beat their Essex opponents by 8 shots. Unfortunately this score was not enough to cover the 12 shot defeat of Hampshire's less experienced rink and the match was lost by 4 shots. Ashley Nethercliffe was a member of the Hampshire team in the White Rose Trophy which unlike the equivalent women's event comprises just one rink. The team appeared to lack its usual energy and enthusiasm and were soon trailing 1-10 against a strong team from Northamptonshire. This was a large deficit to recover in a short 15 end game and although the Hogs recovered to take the match to an extra end Northamptonshire emerged victorious.
