OAKLEY PAIR QUALIFY FOR COUNTY QUARTER FINALS

This evening, at Basingstoke Town, Ashley Nethercliffe and Nick Hardy were looking to reach the County Last Eights as they took on Cove in the Northern Area Finals of the County Pairs. They began well with a two on the first end but on the next end both players failed to find the right line and Cove went ahead 3-2. This was to be the only time Oakley were in arrears as with both players drawing consistently well they had by 7 ends established a 15-3 lead, a large advantage in the current 3 bowl and 18 end format. By 11 ends the score was 22-6 and Cove conceded the match at 15 ends with Oakley leading 25-9. Congratulations to both players and we wish them well when they travel to Banister Park on Saturday 31st July to take on Russell Kemp and Ray Long of the Fleming Park Club (Eastleigh) in the County quarter final. The other qualifiers from the North are Sam Selby and Jim Marsland of Cove.
