Yesterday was the Basingstoke and District Presentation Evening held at Howard Park Bowling Club. The evening began with a welcome from the Chairman James King and after tucking into a hot buffet, prepared by Marc Gorman, President Malcolm Henderson of Alton Social made a short speech before we came to the presentation of trophies. For Oakley, it was always going to be difficult to match our successes in 2018 and 2019 but we went home with the prestigious Division 1 Fours League Trophy (our first win since 2016), the Division 2 Triples Trophy, the Champion of Champions Trophy won by Ric Newson, the Pairs won by Terry Heath and Ashley Nethercliffe and the Two Wood Triples Runners Up Cup won by Richard Startin, Keith Bringes and Jim Dixon.

It was good that the event was held and those present appeared to enjoy the evening. However, seven of the fourteen Clubs in the Association were not represented and two more had only one member in attendance. Thanks must go, therefore to the Howard Park and Oakley Clubs which, between them, provided 60% of the attendance of about 50. Without the support of those two Clubs there would have been no event.
