Following the English Rugby team's failure yesterday to keep a full team on the pitch, Oakley's men did similar this morning as they turned up at Longmeadow a player short for the quarter final of the Moreton Cup. With the rink skipped by Fred Norris a player short, it was always going to be an uphill struggle against Littleton but at half way Oakley were just in front with Sean Lassman leading 11-7 and Fred 11- 9 though with Fred having to lose 25% the overall difference was only 2 shots. The game remained tight throughout and on his last end the Fred Norris rink needed a three for Oakley to win. They scored two but lost the measure for the third shot meaning Oakley went out of the tournament losing 35.5 to 36. Oakley scores: Bob Goodyear, Jim Dixon, John Yarrall and Sean Lassman won 19-17; Leigh Allen, Martin VIckers and Fred Norris won 22-19 but lost 5.5 shots under the 25% rule.
