LADIES BOUNCE BACK

After a disappointing result last night in the Thornbery, Oakley Ladies travelled to Yateley to play in the North Hampshire Women's Gazette Cup - a knock out team competition comprising three triples. There were some big scores in the first 5 ends but Oakley led 16-9 and, unlike last night, it was Oakley that capitalised over the next 5 ends establishing an unsurmountable 29 shot lead. It was now only a question of when Yateley would concede and this occured around 15 ends with Oakley leading 60-18. Oakley Scores: Janie Vickers, Angie Rowe and Ruth Bown won 20-7; Mary Varndell, Sue Dixon and Alice Lovett won 13-5; Shirley Ball, Lorna Butler and Val Ryan won 27-6. In the quarter final Oakley will play either Basingstoke Town or Fleet United.
