Last night, 17 Oakley members attended the Basingstoke and District Bowling Association Presentation Diinner held at the Basingstoke Masonic Centre. Sadly support for the event was poor with only 57 people attending from a total of 14 clubs. Nonetheless those who were present seemed to have an enjoyable evening with good food and thanks go to those who organised the event. For Oakley's Ric Newson it was a special occasion, as not only did he act as MC, but he collected, for the first time, the District Singles title having beaten clubmate and last year's winner Bob Goodyear in the final. Two other trophies were collected by Oakley with Sean Lassman, Bob Goodyear and Ashley Nethercliffe lifting the Triples and Jim Dixon and Barry Lee, the Over 60 Pairs. In addition, Ric, Ted Brown and Terry Heath were runners up in the Triples with Terry Varndell finishing runner up in the Novice Singles. Oakley collected five trophies, one less than in 2019. Well done to all concerned.
