On Saturday evening at Malshanger the Men took on Leigh Park in the National Two Rink Competition. Leigh Park, having beaten Southsea Waverley, it was expected to be a tight game but Oakley surged out of the blocks and after 5 ends led 21-2. By 10 ends the score had gone out to 32-11 and eventually Oakley ran out winners by 62 shots to 29. Oakley scores: Steve Devonish, Malcolm Grime, Bob Goodyear, Fred Norris won 35-14; Sean Lassman, Darren Hyde, Ric Newson and Ashley Nethercliffe won 27-15. In the next round Oakley play Vospers "B".

Sunday morning saw the Ladies take on Ringwood in the Women's National Top Club and with a point available for each of 4 disciplines the game was close with both teams making good progress in two disciplines. Eventually Ringwood took the Singles and Triples points but Oakley took the Pairs and the Fours and with Oakley recording big wins in their two events it was the home team that scored best on aggregate scores winning in total by 27 shots. Oakley scores: Heather Statham lost 14-21; Shirley Ball and Ruth Bown won 24-10; Chris Williams, Sandra Lee and Angie Rowe lost 11-20; Mary Varndell, Marion Bringes, Sue Dixon and Janie Vickers won 35-6. In the next round Oakley play Camberley or Cove.
