Oakley members turned out in force today for the first event of the 2017 season.and were rewarded with brilliant sunshine and temperatures touching 20C. The grren itself was in pristine condition and everone was highly appreciative of the work that had been undertaken over the winter by our volunteer greens team and by those members, who had in recent weeks tended to the flower beds and tubs and carried out the back aching chore of power washing the paving slabs around the green. Well done everyone. Some members opted to sit in the sunshine outside and watch the proceeding but nonethess six rinks were in play and there was some good bowling to observe with the spoons, awarded to the days most successful players, going to Hazel Solomon and Richard Startin.
