It does not take many words to describe the highlights for the Oakley rink at this morning's County Fours quarter final. They looked the part, in the new club shirts as they were presented with their badges and they peppered the jack on the first end and were holding two until, with the last bowl, Boscombe Cliff's Chris Daniels ran the jack through a hole and picked up a six. Matters only worsened on the fifth end when Chris's last bowl created a fortuitous five and the Oakley rink of Ric Newson, Malcolm Grime, Spencer Kerley and Ted Brown found themselves 1-15 down. In any game that is a huge deficit to make up but when the opponents have over 230 Middleton caps between them and you have none and are under performing the chances of a recovery are slim and so it proved with Boscombe Cliff running out comfortable 26-6 winners as Oakley conceded after 18 ends.
