It was a tense evening at St Mary Bourne as Oakley Buzzards played their final Division 1 game of the season looking to retain the trophy they won for the first time in 2017. Having, throughout the season, been involved in a close contest with arch rivals Basingstoke Town the 3-2 win last week at the Town saw Oakley needing to obtain two points from their final game to keep their hands on the trophy. A win on two of the three rinks was achieved and picking up the aggregate result saw Oakley win 4-1 and pip Town for the title by 3 points. Pictured are the 9 players who participated this evening but over a long season it was very much a squad effort. The Club's congratulations go to Ashley, Nicole, Heather, Alice, Barbara, Bob, Ric, Ted, Fred, Martin, Claire, Dominic, Christine, Janie, Mary, Sean, Malcolm and Captain Terry. The result was the culmination of an excellent season in the Whitchurch Leagues and Competitions. As already reported Oakley players lifted the Singles and Pairs titles and last weekend Nicole, Alice and Ashley were runners up in the Triples with Malcolm finishing runner uo in the Over 60s Singles.
