This morning Oakley and Basingstoke Town fought for local bragging rights as they met in the County Mixed Top Club Competition. This was Oakley's third game in the competition and, for the second time, the team showed many changes from the previous round. We have now used a total of 22 players in this competition. The morning began well with Ashley Nethercliffe and Camila Kingshott picking up quick victories in the two singles events and with the Fours, skipped by Claire Flannigan, playing her first serious competitive game since returning to bowls, always in command the result was never in doubt and the Town conceded the match with around 4 ends left to play. Oakley Scores: Camilla Kingshott won 21-9; Ashley Nethercliffe won 21-9; Terry Heath, Ric Newson, Kay Kerley and Claire Flannigan won 28-6; Janie Vickers and Fred Norris drew 14-14; Sue Dixon, Ruth Bown and Bob Goodyear lost 10-17. In the Northern Area Final Oakley will play Cove with the date and venue yet to be agreed.
