Support for Oakley's players at tonight's Area Finals was noticeably missing with most officers being committed to attending the New Members evening at the club. At Hook BC, Nicole Rogers took on Allyson Flint in the Area Final of the Women's Singles and it was Allyson, a former champion and Hampshire's most capped Johns Trophy player, who settled first, racing to a 10 -0 lead after just 5 ends and by 12 ends the gap had risen to 19-3. Nicole, however, fought back well picking up a four on the 13th end. By the 20th the gap had been reduced to just 8 shots but, on the next end, Allyson scored the shot she needed for a 21-12 victory. Meanwhile at Alton BC, Ashley Nethercliffe, Sean Lassman. Bob Goodyear and Fred Norris were taking on the 2014 County Champions, also from Cove, in the Area Final of the Men's Fours. Oakley made a steady start and led 4-1 only for Cove to rattle up 7 shots in 3 end and then a 5 on the 12th end saw Cove move out to an 8 shot lead. The next few ends were evenly balanced but Oakley made no further inroads and with just 3 ends left Cove led 21-12 and although Oakley scored 6 shots over the next three ends that was not sufficient to turn the game in our favour.
