Tonight at a wet Malshanger, Oakley's women attempted to break the hold Cove have over us in team events, as the clubs contested the National Top Club competition. Again we were to be disappointed, as the experienced Cove team, with 6 players who have played Johns Trophy, emerged triumphant winning three of the four disciplines. In the Singles, Nicole Rogers put in a spirited effort against the 2016 County Two Wood Champion, Sarah Bowen, but losing a three, on what proved to be the last end, meant she lost narrowly 19-21. The Triples of Sue Dixon, Janie Vickers and Ruth Bown had a good evening and were leading 20-5 but with the Pairs of Sandra Lee and Val Ryan losing 7-19 and the Fours of Mary Varndell, Jo Holland, Angie Rowe and Kay Kerley losing 7-20, Oakley conceded the game giving Cove a 3-1 win..
