Oakley Bowling Club's congratulations go to Nicole Rogers, who, representing Loddon Vale, yesterday became the English Indoor Women's Two Wood Singles Champion. It was a long day as she began bowling at 11.30am beating South Forest's J Yelland 21-2 before stepping back on the green at 1.30pm to take on England International Amy Walters in what was to be her closest game with Nicole eventually triumphing 21-18. The semi final at 4.00pm was against Blackpool Newton Hall's Janice Gower who featured in the recent World Championships at Potters and is ranked No 6 in the EIBA Rankings. Again Nicole came out on top 21-12. Then at 6.00pm Nicole took on the formidable Rebecca Field of Norfolk, a former National Indoor 4 Wood Singles Champion, a winner of the equivalent outdoor event and Nicole's nemisis at last year's National Singles Final. Rebecca's experience was expected to give her the edge but Nicole, by now on the top of her game, held her nerve to run out a 21-10 winner and lift her first National title.
