Yesterday evening was a testing one for the Club as lack of dates meant that we had to play the County Mixed Top Club on the same evening as the Men's County Triples and not only did we have players involved in other National Competitions but we had, because of rink availability to concede home advantage to Hook. The team at Hook had in it only 4 of the 11 players who took part in the last round but they performed excellently recording a 4-1 victory and giving the selectors food for thought as to who should play in the next round. Oakley Scores: Trevor Wearn lost 17-21, Mary Varndell won 21-19, Janie Vickers and Sean Lassman won 28-21, Sue Dixon, Malcolm Grime and Ruth Bown won 15-8, Christine Williams, Martin Smith, Dave Harrison and Kay Kerley won 22-7

It was also a good day in County Competitions. With Laura Butler, Jo Holland and Val Ryan having qualified last week for the Area Final of the County Women's Triples and Janie Vickers and Ruth Bown reaching the Pairs Finals the men also excelled with Ashley Nethercliffe, Bob Goodyear and Fred Norris beating Alton Social and Ric Newson, Spencer Kerley and Ted Brown beating Cove, so both triples have reached the Area Finasl. With Spencer Kerley, the same afternoon, beating Old Basing's Chris Beadle to reach the Area Final of the Singles we have already had qualifiers for Area Finals in 8 events. The Club wishes all our finalists good luck in their quest to reach the Last Eights at Southampton.
