This morning Oakley hosted the Vospers Club from Portsmouth in the Bowls England Two Rink Competition. Quite what Oakley players do on Saturdays is unclear but it does not seem to help them on Sunday mornings and after 5 ends both rinks were trailing by 4 shots. It did not immediately improve as by 10 ends the deficit had risen to 10 shots. An Oakley rally over the next 5 ends saw the scores levelled at 25-25 and from then on Oakley were in control running out winners by 42 shots to 31.

Oakley Scores: Terry Heath, Darren Hyde, Ric Newson and Ashley Nethercliffe won 23-19; Sean Lassman, Malcolm Grime, Bob Goodyear and Fred Norris won 19-12. In the next round Oakley will play Priory (from Portsmouth) who yesterday beat Atherley.
