District President Bob, Club President Martin and Vice President Norman would probably have liked a weekend off after a hectic Club tour but very early next morning they were up at the green as we hosted the Basingstoke and District Finals. The Blue Riband, event the Singles, was the only one in which Oakley had a representative but Steve Devonish, on the day, was no match for Alton Social's Leo May, the Home Counties Champion, going down to a 21-7 defeat. In the other morning events Alton beat Alton Social in tte Triples with the Two Bowl Triples, an all Basingstoke Town affair, being won by the triple skipped by Richard Burgin. Whilst all this was going on, at Old Basing BC, four Oakley players were contesting the final of the NHWBA McFauld Pairs. It was Shirley Ball and Laura Butler who came out on top with victory over Chris Williams and Val Ryan. Back at Oakley the afternoon matches saw Old Basing defeat Kngsclere in the Pairs, and Alton again defeat Alton Social, this time in the Fours.

After the searing heat on Saturday the weather for the three remaining finals was cooler and at times players were having to deal with light rain. The Champion of Champions saw Alton Social's Adam White beat Howard Park's James Durrant 21-11 and, in a close encounter, a late 3 saw the Novice Singles go 21-19 in favour of Howard Park's T Cooper over Alton's R Bicknell. The Over 60s Pairs was an all Town affair with the team skipped by Bill Lawer emerging as champions.
