It was a busy night with 7 rinks in play. Steve Devonish and Sean Lassman were playing County pairs against Farnborough and at eight ends just one shot separated the teams. Oakley had, however, the better of the second half winning 20-10 to qualify for the Area Final on 12th July. Meantime, Oakley Ladies were taking on Old Basing in the NHWBA Gazette Cup and at eight ends Oakley were 13 shots adrift and defeat looked a distinct possibility. In this match too, the second half of the match went Oakley's way and eventually they emerged triumphant by 75 shots to 51. Oakley scores: Lesley Dumelow, Sandra Lee and Laura Butler lost 16-28; Sue Dixon, Angie Rowe and Janie Vickers won 27-9 and Shirley Ball, Val Ryan and Claire Flannigan won 32-14. Whilst all this was going on, the men were playing a Basingstoke and District Triples League game against Andover and a victory kept them in contention at the top of Division 1.
