Not since 2009 have Oakley's Ladies won the Gazette Cup, the North Hants Women's team trophy played by three triples. When, after the original Final was washed out and we were obliged to play on a date when many members had other commitments, hopes of success were not high as a reshuffled team travelled this morning to Old Basing to take on Fleet United. Oakley, however, surged out of the blocks and after 5 ends led by 16 shots to 8, a lead they increased to 34-18 by 10 ends. By 15 ends, Oakley had extended their lead to 28 shots and it was then only a question of when Fleet United would concede the match. They did so when the aggregate score was Oakley 57 Fleet United 34. Oakley scores: Sandra Lee, Angie Rowe and Laura Butler won 26-7; Lesley Dumelow, Christine Williams and Ruth Bown lost 22-10; Jo Holland, Val Ryan and Shirley Ball won 21-5.

The Club's congratulations go to the team and to Diane Yarrall, Claire Flannigan, Janie Vickers and Sue Dixon who contributed in earlier rounds to what was a splendid team effort.
