FAMILY BATTLE IN FINAL

Today saw the first of Oakley BC's one day competitions when 15 teams competed in the Club Two Wood Pairs Competion. With the teams split into three leagues, each team played four games of eight ends with the three league winners and the best runner up moving into the semi final. These saw Jo Holland and Jim Dixon, after an extra end, snatch a one shot victory over Coral Wearn and Bob Goodyear and with Sue Dixon and Terry Varndell beating Pat Fitzgerald and Janie Vickers in the other semi, this set up a Dixon husband and wife family battle in the final. It was Sue and her skip Terry Varndell that emerged triumphant, having won all their matches on the day.
