Having earlier in the season had to cancel the Drawn Fours because of lack of support, a decision was taken that, for the first time in the club's history, we should hold a "one day" tournament during a weekday. So, yesterday, 38 players turned up to play in two leagues of 5 teams with each team being awarded 2 points for a win and one for a draw. No team in either league managed a clean sheet, and in the league won by Ric Newson's team he crept through with a shots difference one higher than the second placed team. Ric's team comprised Barbara Goodyear, Coral Wearn and Terry Varndell and in the final they came up against Nicole Rogers, Ian Rickman, Laura Butler and Barry Lee. Racing into a 9-0 lead it looked as if Ric's team were home and dry but they then dropped a 5 and with Barry's team holding 3 on the penultimate end it seemed as if the game might go to the wire. However, a fine saving wood from Ric gave his side a comfortable cushion for the last end and they emerged as the 2018 winners.
