With Mary Varndell, Sue Dixon, Angie Rowe and Janie Vickers having been County Fours runners up in 2022, hopes were high that, at Banister Park this morning, they would again be able to qualify for the Nationals at Leamington. The Oakley four began well leading Milton Park by 5-4 after 5 ends and 14-4 at half way. A disastrous 5 on the next end brought Milton Park back into the game and moving the mat up the green they dominated the next 5 ends to lead 18-14. Needing 5 shots on the last 3 ends, Oakley could manage only one going down to defeat by 20 shots to 15, so ending their hopes in this event.

Yesterday was also disappointing as Laura Butler was eliminated from the North Hampshire Women's Bowling Association's Champion of Champion's event by Alton's Tracey Bird. It was a close match, played in rain and taking nearly 3 hours but eventually Laura went down to a 21 shots to 19.
