Today at Banister Park, three Oakley juniors competed for the chance to represent Hampshire in the National Championships at Leamington Spa. First up was Ashley Nethercliffe who had a comfortable 21-9 win over Daniel Palmer of Cowplain in the quarter final of the men's event. Then, as in 2016, he met Under 25 Junior International Louis McCubbin of Southsea Waverley in the semi final. As last year, Ashley came up just short losing 16-21.

The draw for the women's event did Oakley no favours. With just 5 competitors arriving there had to be a preliminary round and Heather Statham and Nicole Rogers were unfortunate to be drawn against each other with Nicole triumphing 21-16 in a closely fought battle. Nicole won her semi final comfortably against Jess Channell of Fleming Park to reach the County Final and have the right to represent Hampshire at Leamington. The Club's congratulations go to Nicole and our commiserations to Heather who as last year had a draw that did her no favours.
