Wednesday morning began sunny and warm for the Club's Drawn Fours competition. This event sees all entrants classified as lead, two, three or skip with a draw to decide who plays with whom - the hope being that all teams will be of similar strength so that everyone has a chance to win. The teams are divided into two leagues and all teams in each league play each other. This year 32 members had entered but, with one calling in sick on the morning and a non appearance, our Competition Secretary, had, to allow two teams to play as triples with the skip having two bowls. The finalists from the two leagues were first year bowler Wendy Aherne, Paul Hammond, Terry Varndell and Ric Newson who took on Marilyn Stanhope, Mike Baxter, Jonathan Scott and Janie Vickers and, in a closely fought match, it was the latter four who. thanks to a penultimate end score of 5, emerged as winners. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to those who helped run the event.
