On Sunday evening some 40 members embarked on the good ship "John Pinkerton" for a cruise on the Basingstoke canal. A number of people had got the evening underway with a meal at a local pub but all were present in time for a 6.30 start. It was a nice evening with the sun rippling on the water and most people were on deck admiring the scenery as the boat made the outward trip to Winchfield. On the return trip, however, it became a little cold and this was just the excuse most members needed to go inside and make use of the bar facilities. It was not long before the boat ran out of beer but fortunately the whisky lasted until the end of the trip, when everyone disembarked after a relaxing and convivial evening.
