In 2022, Oakley changed the format for the Acorn Singles so that the event, which now takes place on a single day, is restricted to players with three years or less bowling experience. The change was very popular and this year 20 new members participated. With players divided into four groups and the group leaders going into the semi-final there was some excellent bowling, given that many of the competitors had never previously played a singles game. In the first semi final Harry Baker, who had won all his round robin matches, went down to David Holding whilst Peter Rolland had a good win over Sam Dimbylow. The final was expected to be close and so it proved. The players were level playing the last end but it was Peter who triumphed by just one shot and received the trophy from President Martin. Congratulations to all the 20 participants who made this a super day and thanks go to the many experienced members who acted as markers and to Kay for organising the tournament .
