After yesterday's disappointment in the Hants and Berks Cup, Oakley's men returned to the green this morning for their fifth round game in the National Two Rink competition. Opponents Priory had recently beaten Atherley so it was expected to be an uphill task especially as Oakley had yet again to change their team, having now used 13 players in this Competition. Unlike the previous game, Oakley made a steady start leading 10-6 after 5 ends and 21-11 after 10 and when the lead by 18 ends had increased to 15 shots the game looked all but over. No one bargained, however, for Oakley, for the second day running, failing to score shots over the closing ends. Fortunately, however, Priory in that time, scored only 14 shots so Oakley sneaked home by 40-39. In the next round Oakley will be at home to Boscombe Cliff.

Oakley scores:Steve Devonish, Jim Dixon, Ted Brown and Fred Norris lost 16-24, Terry Heath, Keith Turnbull, Sean Lassman and Ashley Nethercliffe won 24-15
